Our friends at NYFA have recently set up a relief fund for artists effected by Sandy. Details are below (taken from NYFA website)…

The Andy Warhol Foundation, Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and Lambent Foundation (a project of the Tides Center) have established an Emergency Relief Fund, administered by NYFA to assist artists with damages and losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Eligible artists can be working in any discipline and reside in Connecticut, New Jersey or New York.

Damages are broadly defined and include, but are not limited to: damage to physical work; damage to homes/studios/other facilities; loss of equipment or supplies; loss of income, and reimbursement for cancelled performances/appearances/engagements. We anticipate the overwhelming majority of grants will range between $1,000 and $5,000, but there may be extraordinary circumstances in which slightly smaller or larger grants might be made.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and grants will be issued every two weeks.

Because so many students and recent graduates were effected by Sandy, we have decided to extend the MFA Annual deadline to NOVEMBER 16th, Midnight, EST. Below is our original call for entries…

Attention current MFA students and 2012 graduates…

We are currently accepting submissions for what has become our most anticipated publication of the year. The MFA Annual will feature painters that are currently studying to receive a Master of Fine Arts or current year (2012) MFA graduates. Even more exciting, we have an amazing juror for this year’s competition. New American Paintings is thrilled to have Dominic Molon, Chief Curator, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, prepared to review submissions and select the best and most promising artists to watch.

If you have received your MFA in 2012 or you are a current candidate, you are eligible to enter! The New deadline is November 16th, 2012 (Midnight EST). So apply online now! Or, visit our competition page and follow the instructions. Submitting is easy! Just have four jpegs, less than 1200 pixels at their greatest dimension, and a credit card for the entry fee.
