This is just really bad illustration or crude greeting card design masquerading as art. I know that that there is little appreciation or even understanding of what really constitutes good drawing and design- as the art schools- including mine- have dismantled their drawing departments and just let the students express thmselves. This is just another unfortunate result.

The color palette is unsophisticated and it is amazing that you are impressed that it is freehand. I guess that is a plus considering that Will Cotton projects and traces his photoshopped canvasses.Even the the New York Times gags at that, considering they swallow almost everything else.

Miriam, I've read about that concern as well and I know some people do advocate sizing the panel before mounting canvas to it. There is actually a lot info about this on the AMIEN forums already and if you can't find an answer it would be a great question to ask there.

Amazing how some of these form compositions within the rectangle of the bed of the pickups. Kind of remind me of Rauschenberg paintings. It's also, of course, a reminder of the conditions these workers have to endure, even just to arrive at the job in the first place.

Isnt there a concern that natural resins ,emanating from the wood in the panel, over time will discolor the painting surface up through he acrylic emulsion layer that you used to adhere the canvas to the panel? I have always taken an extra step to block this possibility by first painting w/ a water base stain blocking product like "Kills". It would be wonderful to know that you think this is unnecessary! thanks MH
